Coreys Fishing Charters
My name is Corey David Hayes, born February 27, 1972 in Victoria, B.C.
I started fishing at a very early age with my father. We would fish out at Sidney and also quite a bit out at Sooke. At the age of 13 I started to guide on Vancouver Island part time and then went up north full time on the Marabell at Hakai Pass at age 15. Soon after this I was guiding at Langara Island, Work Channel, and the west coast of the Queen Charlotte Islands at Kano Inlet on the Salmon Seeker. During these years I was fishing for the Oak Bay Marine Group.
In 1995 I started working for myself out of the Port Hardy area guiding as well as longlining rockfish. During the winter months I commercially harvest red and green sea urchins. In previous years I have dove for scallops, geoducks, sea cucumbers, octopus, as well as the urchins. I started diving in 1992 and still do so to this date.
I had the Silver Lady built in the spring of 1998 and then proceeded to continue chartering, diving, and longlining off of it. I have been living in Port Hardy for the past 5 years full time and have lived seasonally here for the last 11.
